Location: Prestwick – Hybrid, 3 days onsite [Flexible working arrangements available]
Salary: £55,498+ (depending on experience)

About the Role
As a Senior Flight Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, integrate, and support a diverse range of aircraft systems, including:
- Landing gear
- Fuel systems
- Electrical power generation and distribution
- Crew escape systems
- Environmental control and thermal management
- Flight controls
- Propulsion integration
You’ll play a key part across the full engineering lifecycle, from concepts and requirements definition to final design, verification, qualification, production, and in-service sustainment. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and customers, you’ll deliver innovative, robust solutions that transform flight systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle—from requirements capture to certification.
- Design, develop, and support mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems for aircraft platforms.
- Provide technical support to internal/external stakeholders, troubleshooting issues to maintain system performance.
- Assist in manufacturing and build-line activities, resolving technical challenges efficiently.
- Ensure high-quality engineering documentation and technical data comply with established standards and programme requirements.
- Utilise analysis and modelling tools to validate designs, assess system performance, and support development.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, project stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
- Manage and prioritise multiple work packages, ensuring timelines, quality, and cost objectives are met.
- Contribute to technical reviews, assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives for programme success.

Essential Experience & Skills
- Qualifications: HNC, HND, Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics).
- Industry experience: Proven track record in the aerospace industry or complex engineering environments.
- Leadership: Ability to lead engineering teams and coordinate technical activities across projects.
- Technical expertise: Strong analytical skills to research, interpret, and apply design data to complex engineering challenges.
- Tool proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office and specialist engineering tools and software.
- Systems experience: Hands-on knowledge of complex systems development, integration, testing, or certification.
- Project management: Managed multiple engineering work packages across diverse projects and platforms.

About the Flight Systems Engineering Team
Join our specialist team in Prestwick, where you’ll focus on advanced aircraft systems for military platforms like Typhon, Tornado, Hawk, and F-35. The team provides deep technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems, with a collaborative environment supporting the full engineering lifecycle.
You’ll have the chance to widen your technical skill set while helping sustain and enhance some of the world’s most advanced aerospace platforms.

Security & Vatability
