About the Role

Position: Senior Flood Modeller "Are you ready to join a team of flood risk specialists and shape the future of the Water Industry?"

Our Water Business Line is looking for a passionate Senior Flood Modeller to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team. Ideal candidates will work across the UK and beyond on high-profile projects within our ambitious northern engineering hub in Leeds.

This role will demand strong technical expertise alongside leadership, mentorship, and client-facing experience. You’ll guide junior colleagues, elevate our capabilities, and deliver quality solutions for public, private, and water sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver robust hydraulic flood modelling: Develop and validate models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOExpress, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, ICM for flood risk assessments, reservoir analyses, and flood alleviation schemes.
  • Expand your toolkit: Apply knowledge of physico-chemical, biological, and bacterial water quality modelling using platforms like MIKE (Ecolab), Delft3D, SIMCAT, or ICM.
  • Conceptualise new modelling methodologies – balancing risks vs. opportunities in every step.
  • Perform and verify hydrological assessments: Master Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP (utilising sophisticated hydrological tools).
  • Contribute to tender submissions: From concept inception to multimillion-pound frameworks, collaborate across teams to deliver compelling proposals.
  • Mentor colleagues: Foster professional growth by sharing expertise and guiding younger members of the team.
  • Build lasting relationships: Engage with clients directly while aligning with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage projects.
  • Stay current with legislative and regulatory changes that impact water management and flood resilience.
  • Maintain data integrity: Use AECOM’s project management tools to ensure outputs meet standards on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrate integrity in high-stakes environments: Balancing technical precision with client-focused diplomacy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
