The Role: Senior Flood Modeller

About the Position

"Ready to join a team of flood risk specialists and shape the future of the Water Industry?"

AECOM’s Water team seeks a senior, impact-driven flood modeller to contribute to high-profile projects across the UK and beyond, based within the cutting-edge northern engineering hub of AECOM in the UK.

You’ll be a technical linchpin, guiding junior colleagues while expanding our service capabilities to serve our local authorities, water companies, and public/private sector clients. This is the opportunity to elevate the standards of flood risk management through cutting-edge water modelling and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

In this strategic role, you will:

✅ Model Development & Technical Leadership

  • Build, check, and refine hydraulic models (using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, MIKE 11, MIKE 21, HEC-RAS, ICM) to:
    • Support flood alleviation projects
    • Complete detailed flood risk assessments
    • Conduct reservoir flood studies
  • Develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, chemical) with tools like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and ICM.
  • Synthesise conceptual modelling approaches while assessing risks, benefits, and technical feasibility.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
