Job overview
This role is suited to someone with 10 years’ relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of commercial facilities, supported by substantial practical experience in building services.
- You will undertake a range of building inspections and produce detailed technical reports, setting out findings and recommendations for clients.
- The role also involves liaising with clients and contractors and taking ownership of these relationships with a high level of professionalism.
- You will act as the go-to technical contact for on-site teams, so being accessible and approachable is an important part of the role alongside the technical responsibilities.
- You will manage assigned project deliverables, ensuring programmes, scope and budgets are maintained. Successful delivery contributes directly to business growth and is therefore key to our continued expansion.

Responsibilities and duties
- Conduct site inspections and surveys across multiple buildings, producing accurate technical reports within agreed timelines.
- Review statutory and building compliance documentation (including health and safety, fire safety and water hygiene) and provide recommendations where improvements are required.
- Manage maintenance activities and liaise with contractors, including coordinating and chairing meetings, taking minutes and distributing actions promptly.
- Handle client correspondence, responding to emails and calls, tracking outstanding issues and providing clear updates on ongoing works and projects.
- Interpret building leases and support lifecycle costing and technical due diligence, providing clear recommendations to clients on the best way forward.
- Prepare cost estimates for remedial works and replacement of engineering services.
- Manage sub-contractors and projects end to end, including sourcing quotations, coordinating delivery, and communicating milestones, deadlines, scope, budgets and progress to stakeholders.
- Ensure technical feasibility and carry out risk management to minimise project risk.
- Carry out technical fault-finding and analysis on mechanical, electrical and public health services across a range of building types.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors and third parties.
- Deliver high-quality technical reports that are clear, evidence-based and suitable for client decision-making, in line with internal quality standards.

Qualifications & skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to multitask and prioritise across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong time management, with the ability to plan work effectively and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Degree in building services engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Excellent understanding of building engineering services.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Membership of CIBSE, IWFM, IET or another relevant professional body (preferred).
