Senior Food Safety Specialist
We are recruiting for a Senior Food Safety Specialist to join the team here at Harrods. About the Role As a Senior Food Safety Specialist you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing food safety, legality and integrity across Harrods own run Restaurants and Kitchens as well as leading with the launch of new Restaurants. You will ensure compliance with food safety legislation and company brand standards, promoting a food safety culture across cross functional teams. You will conduct regular internal audits of allocated food-related areas in line with current legislative requirements and best practices, where relevant liaising with third party companies for international units. You will also deliver Food Hygiene Training to internal teams in line with legislation – ensuring this is completed within the allotted time frames with evidence of effectiveness, keeping training records up to date and held in the designated locations. Your duties will also include: Guaranteeing Food Safety procedures and record books are developed and issued to units ahead of launch Ensuring calorie information is generated for menus ahead of launch and maintained for external units. Making certain that customer information is available on iPad and accurate at the time of launch Training FOH staff on the use of iPad for communicating product information to customers prior to launch Maintaining and verifying appropriate due diligence records – internal and external reports, laboratory results and audits. Be a key stakeholder in project teams working in close collaboration with the project manager and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely launches. About You We are looking for someone who is a confident trainer and presenter, with demonstrated experience of delivering Level 2 Food Safety. You will be both engaging and confident when delivering within a class room environment, balancing this with resilience and the ability to manage challenging conversations, with stakeholders across varying seniority. You will be self-aware and able to flex your style depending on your audience. As a Senior within the team, you will responsible for building relationships with Senior Stakeholders: you will present yourself as professional, knowledgeable and solution led. The ideal candidate will be meticulous with strong attention to detail, as well as possess expert knowledge of Food Safety Legislation and workings of law enforcement agencies. You will thrive under pressure in a fast moving environment, able to explore the grey by asking the right questions and exploring different solutions and possibilities whilst bringing your stakeholders journey. Whether your background is in Restaurants, Kitchens or Manufacturing you will have solid auditing experience and hold a relevant HACCP qualification – level 3 is desirable. You will be happy to not only work from our offices and lead classroom based training but also be “on the ground” in the Kitchens with the Chefs – all in the name of best practice and compliance. You will also have: A degree or equivalent qualification in Food Safety/technical, Environmental Health, Food Safety and Quality Management.
