Senior Food Technologist
Location: London – Hybrid

We’re supporting a high-growth, category-disrupting food brand dedicated to redefining how consumers experience food. Combined with innovation, quality, and deep consumer insights, they’ve built a rapidly expanding business with bold plans for the future.
As they push ahead with growth, they’re seeking a talented and commercially minded Senior Food Technologist to drive innovative product development, uphold quality excellence, and support the scaling of their product portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of new product development (NPD) and product improvement projects, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements—while maintaining the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
- Manage factory trials, product validations, and commercial launches to ensure seamless transition from concept to market.
- Collaborate closely with co-manufacturers, suppliers, and external partners to maintain consistent product quality and performance.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce product specifications, technical documentation, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with UK food legislation, retailer requirements, and relevant certification standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Support troubleshooting, risk assessments, and root cause analysis for product quality issues, driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Manage product launches and coordinate corrective actions to resolve commercial challenges.
- Work with procurement and supply chain teams to streamline ingredient and supplier approval processes.
- Provide technical expertise to internal teams and external partners (e.g., retailers, manufacturers).
- Stay ahead of food industry trends, new ingredients, technologies, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.

About You
We’re looking for someone who blends technical expertise with a proactive, hands-on approach and a passion for food innovation. Your skills must align with the following:
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
- Significant work experience in a Food Technologist or Senior Food Technologist role, preferably within food manufacturing or branded food industries.
- Proven track record in managing NPD projects from concept to successful commercialisation.
- Strong understanding of:
- Food safety and quality systems (including HACCP regulations).
- UK food legislation and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with retailers, manufacturers, and suppliers in a quality or technical capacity.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to balance quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.

Desirable (Bonus!)
- Experience in a high-growth food brand or entrepreneurial FMCG environment.
- Familiarity with chilled, ambient, plant-based, snacking, or convenience food categories.
- Knowledge of retailer technical standards and audit requirements.
- Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturing partners.
