I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
What you’ll need:
- Technical & advanced analytics: Advanced Google Sheet or Excel proficiency. SQL. Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or specialized FP&A software (e.g., Pigment, Anaplan) is beneficial.
- Proven ability to work in ambiguity: You can, with some support, frame a problem, find the right data, test hypotheses and move forward without waiting for perfect inputs. You can draw out the insights from complex or incomplete data.
- Business acumen: You can join the dots between business imperatives, stakeholders’ priorities, and external factors.
- Communication: You can challenge assumptions constructively and confidently with senior stakeholders. You can create board-ready and management level materials.
- Experience: 5+ years across a combination of strategy consulting, banking, private equity or FP&A in fast moving environments.
How You Work
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-moving, scaling environment.
- Low Ego: You are equally comfortable developing the 3-year plan for the Board as you are digging into broken cell references in a Google sheet. You are happy to ask for help when you need it, and you jump in to help other people.
- A "maker": You don’t do things "because that's how they’re done." You ask questions and figure out if there’s another way to do things.
- You are commercially curious and outcome-focused.
What we offer
- Opportunity to work at the centre of one of the fastest-growing SaaS businesses with operations across multiple regions.
- Exposure to complex, multinational finance challenges.
- Competitive compensation including base, bonus, and equity participation.
- A culture of high standards, collaboration, and ownership.
