Senior Fraud & Financial Crime Analyst – Payments

This critical, initiative-led position ensures seamless Virtual Credit Card (VCC) launch and sustained operational stability. You’ll act as our Fraud Payments Strategy Manager’s trusted cohort, crafting high-quality fraud insights and optimising financial crime controls.


Key Responsibilities

Develop, optimise, and sustain:

  • Regulatory and scheme-compliant controls for VCC fraud and financial crime.
  • Proactive fraud performance analysis, detecting trends, anomalies.
  • MI dashboards and reporting for governance and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) guidance.

Core Tasks:

  • Investigate fraud performance across all channels, identifying root causes of spikes or misoriented losses.
  • curate and maintain AML, fraud, and risk monitoring KPIs, ensuring Extended Reporting/Live Reporting (( SAR, VFMP, and ECN) integrity.
  • Diagnose and reduce fraud losses, aligning future strategies to historical trends and extrapolated projections.
  • Optimise transactional compliance: Scrutinise sanctions/Pep flags, heightening detection thresholds while reducing false positives.
  • Validate reporting accreditation for Visa, Mastercard, PSD2/SCA, FCA, and schemes to align with Roseboui’s recent audits.
  • Execute in-depth fraud investigations on high-value anomalies (BIN attacks, CNP spikes, cross-border merchant schemes).
  • Develop and refine real-time rules and risk models to sculpt resilient fraud protections.
  • Collaborate with product/product teams on evolution enforcement, cloud deployment and data science testing.
  • Positively influence fraud leakage via AB-testing, predictive thresholds, and protocol adjustment.
  • Preparing for campaign season shadowing team processes during high-fidelity simulations (UAT, MIFHAOut.
  • Address technical debt by prioritising backlog recommendations from environment risks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, engaging Product, IT, Operations, Compliance, and Schemes for robust strategy implementation.
  • Stakeholder-facing insights into PCI optimization, reducing disputes/financial burden from compliance gaps.
  • Act as technical liaison in process mapping:
    • Fraud event visibility post-event retroactively within a single data warehouse.
    • Post product launch international incident review.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong analytical proficiency in SQL, Python or SAS data manipulation for transaction-level reconciliation.
  • Subject-matter expert (SME) authorisation, clearing and chargeback flows pertaining to card payments.
  • Virtual Feature Masters familiarity:
    • physical and virtual card issuer control strategy,
    • Full scheme (TC40 thresholds, Vfm,Safe, Equifax justice complaint).
  • FICO/Marqueta Fraud Analytics + Manual Rules framework calibration exposure preferred.
  • 3+ year experience spectrum fully within Payment Systems or CardIssuing, FCA-compliant.
  • AML, CardOnPrem or Transaction Intelligence (e.g. Ravelin) experience method priority.
  • Risk-tolerance trade-off analysis: Complex data interpretation, delivering pragmatic actionable strategies.
  • Stellar storytelling竞**: Translate-by-waypoint revealing insights for cross-departmental teams.
  • Thorough regulatory precision across payment schemes compliance landscapes.
