Employment Type: Full Time / Permanent Location: Aberdeen Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

We are looking for a Senior Freight Forwarder to join our Freight Forwarding team based in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating international and domestic freight movements, ensuring shipments are processed accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with customs, regulatory and customer requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end freight movements across Air, Sea, Road, Rail and Courier services.
  • Arrange bookings with carriers, hauliers and service providers.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including Air Waybills, Bills of Lading, commercial invoices and packing lists.
  • Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays or operational issues.
  • Complete import and export customs declarations using CDS or relevant customs systems.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and international trade regulations.
  • Validate shipment documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide timely updates and excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records within freight forwarding systems.
  • Support invoicing processes and identify any billing discrepancies.
  • Assist colleagues during busy operational periods and contribute to team objectives.
  • Escalate complex shipment or customs issues where appropriate.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours)

  • Previous experience within international freight forwarding and customs.
  • Familiarity with CDS and freight forwarding systems.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good standard of secondary education (or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications / Competencies

  • Experience across Air, Sea and Road freight.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping documentation.
  • Air Cargo Security Training.
  • Manual Handling Training.
