This is an opportunity to join Nando's USA Technology team on a long-term contract, helping build and scale the digital products that support our expansion across the USA. You'll work with a modern technology stack, solving complex engineering challenges and delivering high-quality customer-facing applications within a collaborative, agile environment.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to join our USA Technology team on an initial 12-month contract.
- You'll be an experienced frontend engineer who can quickly understand complex systems, contribute from day one and deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced agile environment.
- You'll enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, taking ownership of technical delivery and working collaboratively with Product Managers, Designers and backend engineers to build outstanding customer experiences.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys writing clean, maintainable code and delivering production-ready software.
The Role
As a Senior Front End Engineer, you'll design, build, deploy and optimise modern web applications that power the Nando's digital experience across the USA.
You'll work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Technical Leads and backend engineers to deliver customer-facing features across multiple digital products.
You'll quickly become productive within the team, taking ownership of technical delivery whilst maintaining high engineering standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
You'll also:
- Deliver high-quality frontend features from discovery through to production.
- Build reusable, scalable and accessible React components.
- Translate UX designs into performant, responsive user interfaces.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Participate in technical discussions, planning sessions and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to continuous service improvements.
- Optimise frontend performance, accessibility and user experience.
- Champion the effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery while maintaining engineering quality.

About the USA Tech Team
Our team's objective is to bring the same high-quality digital experience that customers enjoy in the UK and Ireland to customers across the USA. To achieve this, we build and evolve the services powering our customer journeys across:

As a Senior Front End Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering customer-facing experiences across these domains.
You'll work alongside backend engineers, Product Managers and Designers to build intuitive, responsive and accessible applications that are scalable, resilient and easy to evolve.
Responsibilities
You'll:
- Deliver scalable, secure and production-ready frontend applications using React and TypeScript.
- Develop reusable UI components and shared frontend libraries.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and backend engineers to deliver customer value.
- Consume REST APIs and integrate with backend services.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Build comprehensive automated tests and improve test coverage.
- Optimise application performance, accessibility and Core Web Vitals.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Support production systems through monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
- Work effectively within an agile delivery team to meet sprint commitments.
- Continuously explore emerging technologies, including AI-assisted software development, to improve engineering effectiveness.
Skills Required
Essential
- Significant commercial experience building modern frontend applications.
- Expert proficiency in React, TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
- Strong experience with React ecosystem libraries such as React Query, Redux Toolkit or equivalent state management solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and responsive web development.
- Experience integrating REST APIs into frontend applications.
- Strong understanding of component-based architecture and scalable frontend design.
- Experience building performant, accessible and responsive user interfaces.
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-hosted frontend deployments.
- Strong understanding of Agile software delivery.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to quickly understand existing codebases and contribute with minimal onboarding.
- Experience using AI effectively as part of the software development lifecycle.
