Senior Front Office Software Engineer

URGENT 12 MONTH FTC - LONDON

On behalf of my client (an investment management company) we are recruiting for a Senior Front Office Software Engineer.

Must have front office capital markets experience with understanding of trade flows, trade lifecycle, and FIX protocol.

Our client highly values academic achievements, and is looking for candidates who have achieved high level grades from a Russell Group University.

Responsibilities

  • Join a collaborative and supportive global team of software developers to work on a financial services client’s strategic trading platform.
  • Engage directly with users, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to identify requirements, applying sound judgement to design and deliver pragmatic, effective solutions.
  • Take on early responsibility for high-quality end-to-end software delivery.
  • Partner with client teams to deliver solutions collaboratively.
  • Challenge current systems and processes to achieve common goals through technical excellence and innovation.
  • Keep abreast of AI and technology trends that will keep us at the forefront of what is possible.

What makes a great candidate

  • Excellent, modern programming and software design skills.
  • Strong C++ skill is a must-have, along with SQL and understanding of data engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tooling including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud (AWS), infrastructure as code and automated deployment strategies.
  • The ideal candidate will be versatile and able to transition to Java and/or Python over time; prior experience in either is beneficial.
  • Must be passionate about technology and the use of AI to accelerate and empower engineers.
  • Must have front office capital markets experience with understanding of trade flows, trade lifecycle, and FIX protocol.
  • Able to work in a very dynamic and integrated team and business environment.
  • Engaged in all aspects of software delivery with a product-oriented, customer-focused mindset.
  • A naturally brilliant communicator who can skilfully orchestrate the efforts of coding agents and globally distributed colleagues.
  • Energy, ambition and grit are as important as strong technical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • A minimum 2.1 degree obtained in Computer Science, or a related field, from a top University, as well as strong A Levels / international equivalents.
