Senior Frontend Engineer (Contract)
Outside IR35 | Hybrid (2 days per week onsite) – West Yorkshire, England
Looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team on an initial contract. This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver modern, scalable and high-performing web applications and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) used by millions of customers.
The Role
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Architects, and Backend Engineers to design, build, and enhance customer-facing digital products. You'll play a key role in delivering new features, improving performance, and driving engineering best practices across the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) using React and TypeScript.
- Translate business and user requirements into scalable, maintainable frontend solutions.
- Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment.
- Champion frontend performance, accessibility, security, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and code reviews.
- Build quality into solutions through automated testing and CI/CD practices.
- Collaborate within Agile, cross-functional engineering teams.

Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
- Modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
- HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS
- Responsive and mobile-first development
- REST API and/or GraphQL integration
- Automated testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, and/or Cypress
- Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Frontend performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
- Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards
Desirable Experience
- Large-scale e-commerce or customer-facing digital platforms
- Azure cloud environments
- Personalisation or experimentation platforms
- Search, browse, basket, or checkout functionality
