Senior Front End Software Engineer (React / TypeScript)
Location: Bristol, UK Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Mode: Hybrid (2 days in-office per week)
About the Role
We are looking for ** Senior Front End Software Engineers** to join cross-functional feature teams, focusing on creating front-end-led capabilities for the Data Marketplace. This role involves building accessible, high-quality, and well-tested user interfaces on a cloud-native platform using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Successful candidates will take strong technical ownership of front-end delivery, guide the technical direction, and support team members in delivering robust solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accessible, scalable, and high-performance user interfaces with a test-first approach
- Own code quality, security, and reliability of front-end components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and drive technical solutions
- Mentor other developers and share expertise in React, TypeScript, and testing practices
- Ensure smooth integration with back-end systems via REST APIs and PostgreSQL
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as needed

Required Skills & Experience
- Proficient in React with experience in modern front-end architectures
- Strong TypeScript expertise
- Test-first (TDD) mindset with hands-on experience in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (preferably using JestJS)
- Solid knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and tools like axe-core
- Experience building scalable, performant, and maintainable front-end applications

Desirable (Bonus) Skills
- Back-end development experience with Java / Quarkus
- Work with REST APIs, JSON, and databases like PostgreSQL
- Exposure to DevOps practices, including:
- CI/CD pipelines
- Docker and containerisation
- Kubernetes and cloud-native tooling
