Senior Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager

About the Role
Are you passionate about building food safety standards and driving product quality? We are searching for a technical professional to spearhead food safety and quality compliance within our team.
As a Senior FSQA Manager, you will work across Europe to deliver food safety and quality compliance with our convenience suppliers while collaborating with procurement, private label, supply chain, and distribution centre teams. You’ll onboard fresh private label products, align with best practices, and develop standardised operations across markets. Your work will drive continuous improvement in safety and quality, ensuring our customers receive exemplary products.
Key Responsibilities

Supplier and Product Onboarding:
- Manage and coordinate the onboarding of new suppliers and private label products, ensuring alignment with food safety, legal, and quality standards.

** Supplier Audits & Compliance:**
- Conduct on-site supplier visits and audits to secure approvals while implementing strategic quality improvements to reduce complaints and boost customer satisfaction.

** Standardisation & Best Practice:**
- Leverage industry expertise and supply-chain learning to develop best-practice protocols for supplier interactions and internal operations.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth performance alignment.

Incident Resolution:
- Investigate quality and food safety issues with suppliers, conducting root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions to prevent product non-compliance and maintain customer availability.

Category Ownership:
- Set key performance indicators (KPIs) for your assigned convenience category, focusing on out-of-specification deliveries, customer complaints, and compliance metrics.
Requirements & Qualifications
Professional Experience
- 4+ years in a quality or food safety management role within the food industry, preferably in chilled ready-to-eat foods.
- Experience conducting audits of food manufacturers, preferably with third-party certification.
- Strong knowledge of EU food labelling regulations.

Technical & Regulatory Skills
- Familiarity with EU regulatory compliance for product packaging and artwork approval.
Certifications (Desirable)
- Additional food quality & safety qualifications such as HACCP or internal auditing training.
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Excellent English assimilation and communication skills.
- Frequent travel required (including potential overseas travel), with 50% time spent on-site at suppliers and distribution centres.
- Ability to make risk-based decisions to balance high standards with customer expectations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to resolve time-sensitive challenges.
- Resilience and calm under pressure when managing conflicting priorities.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multitasking capabilities.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets/Excel, Docs/Word, Slides/PowerPoint).
Who You’ll Collaborate With
- Suppliers and distribution networks in UK, DACH, France, Nordics, Ireland, and Benelux markets.
- Internal teams spanning procurement, private label, supply chain, and distribution operations.
