Senior Full Stack Developer (Node.Js)
Location: London
Role Type: Permanent
Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days in the office (Tuesday to Thursday)

What You'll Do
Vanguard's European Client Identity team develops and manages the authentication and MFA platform used by clients across the UK and Europe. This senior full-stack role focuses on frontend development, with responsibility for an Angular 21 + NestJS app in a regulated, security-focused environment.
- Lead the team in managing an Angular frontend, including onboarding and mentoring others on the codebase.
- Develop and enhance frontend experiences for login, MFA, and client authentication using Angular.
- Build and maintain backend services, including designing REST APIs with NestJS/TypeScript and integrating with identity/MFA platforms like Transmit Security or Auth0.
- Deploy, operate, and manage services on AWS using Infrastructure as Code, including database migrations, updates, and vendor-specific software.
- Maintain production services by writing automated tests, improving test coverage, participating in CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and operational tasks.
- Work closely with product and security teams to deliver technical solutions while continuously improving engineering standards, tools, and system reliability.

What You Bring
- Expertise in Angular (v14+), with the ability to own and onboard others onto an Angular 21 codebase.
- Proficiency in TypeScript for both frontend and backend development.
- Experience with Angular component libraries and design systems.
- Strong Node.js backend skills with NestJS or Express for REST API development.
- Knowledge of authentication protocols like OAuth 2.0, JWT, and MFA flows.
- Hands-on AWS experience (ECS, Lambda, CloudFront, S3, Secrets Manager).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform).
- Experience with containerised workloads (Docker).
- Solid Git practices and CI/CD expertise (e.g., GitHub Actions).
Desirable Skills
- Background in identity, authentication, or MFA systems, with knowledge of security concepts such as IAM, encryption, and networking.
- Familiarity with Kong API Gateway or similar tools and experience with observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, or Grafana.
- Exposure to Aurora PostgreSQL or DynamoDB and an understanding of microservices architectures.
- Previous work in regulated or enterprise environments.
