About the Role
We’re supporting a leading global footwear retailer in establishing dedicated Marketplace and Conversion Optimisation squads to drive digital commerce improvements ahead of Peak.
We’re seeking an exceptional Senior/Principal Full Stack Engineer who blends deep technical expertise with strong product thinking and software craftsmanship. This is a hands-on engineering role—not just oversight. Ideal candidates will spend most of their time designing, building, and shipping production software, embedding modern engineering practices into their squad. These engineers act as Engineering Catalysts, leading by example to improve delivery, raise team capability, and ship results—not just manage tickets. We’re looking for engineers who think beyond features, understand customer outcomes, and build high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Customer Outcomes
- Design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and cloud-native applications across Marketplace and Conversion domains.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and QA to translate customer problems into technical solutions.
- Own and deliver customer-facing features that improve conversion, customer experience, and commercial outcomes.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features—from discovery to production.
Lead Through Hands-On Engineering
- Lead technically through direct software engineering engagements.
- Build production-ready software every sprint, ensuring speed, quality, and maintainability.
- Pair programme with engineers to solve complex challenges across the SDLC.
- Pragmatically weigh trade-offs between speed, quality, and maintainability.
Embed Engineering Excellence
- Champion software craftsmanship and clean code practices.
- Embed engineering standards and best practices into daily delivery.
- Drive code quality via peer reviews and collaborative development.
- Promote reusable components, modular designs, and maintainable solutions.
- Enforce automated testing and secure-by-default engineering.
- Mentor engineers through pairing and technical leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
