Department Overview
The Rights Product & Services Team delivers bespoke technical solutions at a global scale, ensuring efficient contract and repertoire management for Universal Music Group. We:
- Design, develop, and maintain systems integrating front-end apps and back-end processing
- Collaborate with international business units toinnovate rights solutions and refine processes
- Support scalable, secure, and high-performance ‘rights’ experiences
The Role: Senior Full Stack Engineer
You will join an agile team as a seasoned Full Stack Engineer, driving the evolution of UMG’s Rights systems. Responsibilities include:
- Building, maintaining front-end (React) and back-end (.NET/Postgres) applications
- Collaborating with product owners, analysts, tech leads, developers, QAs, and DevOps to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions
- Supporting lightweight processes and CI/CD tools while maintaining fast, reliable outputs
- Working in an on-demand, triage-and-resolve environment with minimal supervision
- Quickly adapting to high-tempo domains where performance and security are critical

Key Responsibilities
- Work under technical guidance from team leads and senior engineering peers
- Participate in agile ceremonies:
- Sprint planning
- Daily stand-ups
- Retrospective analysis
- Deeply understand UMG’s complex business workflows (contracts, repertoire management)
- Support US Agile@Scale processes, reinforcing best practices and continuous improvement
- Quality assurance focus:
- Meeting acceptance criteria rigorously
- Minimising failures in Quality Assurance testing
- Implement Test Driven Development (TDD) and modern CS practices (SOLID principles, GOF design patterns)
- Debug and optimise using:
- Telemetry tools (e.g., Dynatrace)
- Log analysis, observability insights
- Modern cloud architecture skills – experimentation with:
- Microservices
- Containerisation (ECS, Kubernetes)
- Remote collaboration – self-guided with occasional in-person needs for complex issues
- Stakeholder engagement – bridging technical challenges with Business Users
- Foster global teamwork while delivering quality within tight deadlines
Skills & Experience Requirements
Technical Proficiencies
- Proficient in C# and the .NET ecosystem – overall 5+ years experience
- React.js development (2+ years) and proficiency with test automation (Jest, etc.)
- JavaScript/TypeScript (with recognised prior work) – 2+ years
- AWS Essentials: at least 3 years of hands-on use, including:
- Core services (e.g., Lambda, SQS, SNS)
- Responsive architecture principles
- Experience with:
- PostgreSQL/database design
- Extensions (e.g., JSON data management)
- Code automation and best practices: Contributor to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkin, or Tekton
- Self-education attitude: Can quickly dissect and improve code
- Interest in modern innovations such as:
- Cloud-native development (Azure, GCP)
- New container platform tools (e.g., Knative, ArgoCD)

- Team sizes: building cross-concerns (e.g., Google’s MiFA or AWS Data Brewery)
