Role Summary
FTSE Russell (LSEG) is leading the charge in modernising data distribution capabilities to deliver index data to the global financial community across APIs, cloud platforms, and innovative data channels.
We are seeking a Senior Engineer with a hands-on approach to design and scale the systems driving this distribution—ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance data delivery to institutional clients worldwide.
This individual contributor role includes strong technical leadership, focusing on system design, data modelling, and setting engineering standards across a client-facing platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable data distribution systems using APIs, cloud platforms, and client-facing channels.
- Own system architecture and data modelling, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability at global scale.
- Develop secure, high-quality APIs and data services for external consumers.
- Drive engineering excellence through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to technical standards.
- Collaborate closely with product teams and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong expertise in distributed backend systems, APIs, and cloud-native platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Proven ability to own end-to-end system design and data modelling.
- Experience with relational databases, data-intensive systems, and ETL processes.
- Cloud development skills—especially AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, Aurora, etc.).
- Commitment to code quality, testing standards, and operational best practices.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on customer-centric problem-solving.
Tech Stack (Core):
- Development: TypeScript, Angular/React, Python, SQL
- Cloud: AWS ecosystem (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, etc.)
- Databases: PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg, DynamoDB, VectorDB
- CI/CD & IaC: Terraform, GitLab CI/CD pipeline
Nice-to-Have (if applicable):
- Experience in client-facing platforms or financial market data systems.
- Exposure to AI development tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, agentic AI frameworks).
