Senior Software Engineer (Go)
Location: Manchester (Hybrid – up to 2 days onsite)
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 + Benefits
I'm supporting a fast-growing UK technology company that's continuing to invest heavily in the evolution of its core SaaS platform.
This is an opportunity to join a highly capable engineering team building a complex, cloud-native product used by enterprise organisations around the world. You'll work on software that processes large volumes of data, solve challenging engineering problems, and help shape the technical direction of a platform that's continually evolving.
This is a business that values curiosity, ownership and engineering excellence, giving developers the autonomy to influence architecture, improve tooling, working with AI in their workflows and contribute well beyond feature delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, building and maintaining scalable backend services using Go
- Working across the full stack, contributing to modern web applications built with React where required.
- Advocate of AI-assisted software engineering, leveraging tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate development, improve code quality and enable engineers to focus on solving higher-value technical challenges.
- Building cloud-native solutions using AWS, with a focus on scalability, resilience and performance.
- Designing and consuming RESTful APIs and distributed services.
- Contributing to architectural discussions and helping shape long-term technical direction.
- Improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and developer tooling.
- Working closely with Product, Design and Engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Investigating new technologies and contributing to engineering R&D initiatives.
- Championing software quality through testing, code reviews and engineering best practices.

What we're looking for
- Strong commercial experience developing backend systems with Go (Golang)
- Experience building cloud-native applications within AWS.
- Solid understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems and scalable backend design.
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is beneficial.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar.
- Comfortable working across the full stack, with exposure to React or modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience working within a product-led engineering environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mentality and passion for building high-quality software.
- Someone who enjoys collaborating, challenging ideas and continually improving engineering practices.
