Senior Full Stack Engineer (Scala / TypeScript)
Location: London (1 day per week in the office, 4 days remote)
Type: Full-time
We're looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with deep expertise in Scala and strong TypeScript skills to join our engineering team.
This is a backend-first role, with approximately 70% of your time focused on Scala services and 30% on TypeScript across our web applications. You'll work on high-impact products, collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, and help shape the technical direction of our platform.
What You'll Do
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services in Scala.
- Develop and enhance modern frontend applications using TypeScript.
- Build clean, well-tested, maintainable code across the stack.
- Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to deliver high-quality features.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
- Review code, mentor other engineers and help maintain engineering best practices.
- Improve system performance, reliability and observability.

Essential
- Strong commercial experience developing backend systems with Scala.
- Solid experience building frontend applications with TypeScript.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing and clean architecture.
- Experience working in Agile engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- Experience with React or another modern TypeScript framework.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
- Docker and Kubernetes experience.
- CI/CD pipeline experience.
