Job Description: Senior Software Engineer
Position Summary
We seek a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team, focused on delivering robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will:
- Apply technical leadership to design new features, resolve complex issues, and reduce technical debt.
- Shape engineering practices and ensure excellent outcomes for our customers.
- Collaborate on strategies that drive value, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities

Feature Development & Problem-Solving
- Build clean, maintainable software features and resolve end-to-end issues through technical evaluation.
- Ensure solutions are fit for purpose, cost-effective, high-quality, and aligned with established engineering practices.

Technical Debt Management
- Contribute to the strategy and management of technical debt to uphold secure, resilient systems.

Testing & Architecture
- Define and support test strategies prioritising security, usability, accessibility, and customer experience.
- Review code with a focus on functional and non-functional requirements, including:
- Performance
- Resilience
- Maintainability
- Security

Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Proficiencies:
- Hands-on experience in building and supporting:
- Large, production-grade backend systems using Java/JVM (Java 17+/Kotlin).
- JVM-based Spring microservices or Node.js–based REST architectures.
- JavaScript/TypeScript, with Angular or similar frameworks experience (from web or backend perspectives).
- Strong expertise in:
- Clean code, clean architecture, and layered backend designs (e.g., three-tier, hexagonal, onion).
- Database composition, SQL, and API design.
- Cloud security best practices, including:
- Web security
- API security
- Distributed systems resilience
Development Practices:
- Proficiency in:
- Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Pyramid testing approaches.
- Experience with:
- Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Version control (Git, GitFlow).
- CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Excellent English communication skills for team facilitation.
- Ability to:
- Align teams toward shared goals.
- Conduct technical discussions and workshops.
- Demonstrates:
- Sound judgment in process improvement.
- Mentoring capability.
- Ownership for outcomes and continuous learning.
