Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. This role demands your technical expertise and strategic acumen to design and build new features, resolve complex technical challenges, and address technical debt while continuously evolving engineering practices. You will significantly influence team effectiveness, driving meaningful customer value.

Technical Debt Strategy
- Contribute to the strategy and management of technical debt to sustain secure, resilient, and reliable systems

- Define and champion test approaches that prioritise security, usability, accessibility, and overall customer experience
- Review code with emphasis on functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, resilience, maintainability, and security

Eligibility Criteria
Essential

Production System Expertise
- Hands-on experience building and supporting large-scale backend systems using:
- Java/JVM (Java 17+/Kotlin)
- JVM-based Spring or Node.js microservices
- Hands-on experience building and supporting large-scale backend systems using:

Frontend & Backend Tech
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with prior experience working with:
- Angular or related frameworks, irrespective of background (either frontend or backend-focused)
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with prior experience working with:

Architecture & Design
- Deep understanding of clean code, clean architecture, and layered designs (e.g., three-tier, hexagonal, onion architectures)
- Ability to align engineering decisions with business priorities such as scalability, quality, and maintainability

Database & Security Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of:
- Database design and SQL
- API and distributed cloud security best practices
- Sound knowledge of:

Delivery & Code Quality
- Proven track record delivering well-optimised, maintainable software features
- Experience analysing and resolving complex technical issues
- Ability to provide high-quality, actionable feedback through code reviews

- Strong advocate of test-driven development (TDD) and the testing pyramid
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments using Git, Git Flow, and CI/CD pipelines
