About Our Technology Department
The Senior Functional Consultant (Salesforce) sits within our Technology Department, crucial to ensuring employees and students can work effectively, deliver projects, and find the right solutions—ultimately shaping the technology that makes the biggest impact.
Our IT team consists of around 65 employees, covering a range of expertise from software development to IT operations and security. We value employee development, offering numerous opportunities for growth and professional advancement.
About This Opportunity
As a Senior Salesforce Functional Consultant, you’ll play a key role in shaping and enhancing one of our most important business platforms, ensuring it continues to deliver exceptional value across the organisation.
Your Role
Working within the Salesforce Team, your responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day administration, configuration, and support of the Salesforce platform, with a primary focus on Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
- Close collaboration with stakeholders across the university to define business needs and deliver innovative technical solutions.
- Improving user adoption and ensuring that the platform remains stable, secure, and future-proof.
- Streamlining business processes, enhancing data quality, and introducing new functionality to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
- Leading the Salesforce roadmap, championing a configuration-first approach, and maximising ROI from our Salesforce investment.
- Collaborating with the Business Systems team to influence platform design, enhance developer enablement, and drive continuous platform improvement across our Salesforce ecosystem.

You’ll balance hands-on Salesforce configuration with stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and platform optimisation.
About You
If you’re passionate about Salesforce, enjoy solving business challenges through technology, and want to make a real impact in a meaningful, purpose-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in a similar or directly related role, including escalation handling and platform ownership.
- 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration in a complex organisation.
- Advanced declarative configuration skills (Flows, automation, security, reporting).
- Strong understanding of Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within Agile processes or structured service delivery environments.
- Salesforce Certified Administrator (earned within the last 2 years).
Desirable Qualifications
- Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, or Service Cloud Consultant certifications.
- Familiarity with Omni-Channel features or Salesforce Einstein AI.
- Experience mentoring junior administrators or supporting capability building.
- Background in higher education, public sector, or regulated industries.
- Use of Jira or similar tools for work and demand management.
- Experience working with enterprise-scale Salesforce implementations, including large volumes of data and governance structures.
