Senior Funeral Director
Position: Senior Funeral Director
Location: A Spicer & Son Funeral Directors, Southall Job Type: Full-time, permanent Salary: £35,179.28 per annum
We are looking for a compassionate and committed Senior Funeral Director to join our team at A Spicer & Son Funeral Directors in Southall, as someone who takes pride in supporting families with care and professionalism. You will play a key leadership role in overseeing funeral arrangements, guiding and developing your team, and building strong relationships with local partners and the wider community to ensure every service is delivered with respect and excellence.

Your Impact and Responsibilities
As a Senior Funeral Director, you lead by example, guiding families with empathy and professionalism, while ensuring your team does the same. You’ll spend around 70% of your time delivering and overseeing services and the rest managing the day-to-day operations of one or more branches.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Delivering complex funeral arrangements:
- Ensuring respectful, appropriate services that reflect the client's wishes
- Overseeing branch standards and high-quality care of the deceased
- Acting on a rotating out-of-hours on-call schedule (including nights/weekends) to support families in emergencies
- Providing collection, transfer, and immediate care of the deceased
- Leading recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews:
- Conducting regular one-to-one meetings (121s)
- Ensuring clear responsibilities for back-of-house teams
- Supporting seamless:
- Scheduling and service coordination
- Assisting the Cluster Manager in:
- Branch performance monitoring
- Compliance audit processes
- Identifying service gaps:
- Recommending process and training improvements
- Ensuring funeral plan banks remain replenished
- Confirming all team members hold Funeral Plan Consultant (FPC) training
