Location: Howard Jenkins Funeral Directors

Job Type: 38.33 hours per week

Salary: £33,000 per annum


We are looking for a compassionate and committed Senior Funeral Director to join our team at Howard Jenkins Funeral Directors. As someone who takes pride in supporting families with care and professionalism, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing funeral arrangements and guiding your team. In addition, you will build strong relationships with local partners and the community to ensure every service is delivered with respect and excellence.

As a Senior Funeral Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Cluster Manager in achieving business goals.

Your role ensures consistent compliance, client satisfaction, and staff excellence while fostering a culture of empathy, professionalism, and continuous improvement.


Your Impact and Responsibilities

You’ll spend around 70% of your time delivering services in person and 30% managing operations. This includes overseeing one or more branches with a variety of tasks:

  • Delivering funerals: Conduct funerals with empathy and professionalism, aligning with client wishes.
  • Ensuring high standards: Uphold rigorous service delivery, training, and care of the deceased.
  • Supporting families: Participate in an on-call rota (including evenings, weekends, and nights) to provide out-of-hours support, such as dignified collections.
  • Team leadership: Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and regular 1:1s.
  • Operational management: Schedule services, coordinate teams, and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Branch performance: Assist the Cluster Manager in audits, compliance, and service improvements.
  • Process optimisation: Identify gaps and suggest refinements to training and operations.
  • Financial responsibility: Monitor and replenish funeral plan banks.
  • Compliance: Ensure all team members are Funeral Plan Consultant (FPC) trained.
