Senior Game Designer – Minecraft Blast (Games Design & Production)
About the Role
Help craft the moment-to-moment magic of Minecraft Blast! Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe, and we’re looking for a Senior Game Designer to shape the feel, challenge, and moment-to-moment fun of the game.
In this role, you will design and evolve core puzzle gameplay, including level mechanics, blockers, and moment-to-moment interaction systems that define the player experience.
Working closely with Core Gameplay Leadership and other designers, you’ll craft gameplay that is deeply satisfying, approachable, and scalable across thousands of levels, ensuring the game delivers delightful player experiences and strong long-term engagement.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Game Designer, you’ll play a key role in defining and refining core gameplay systems, ensuring the puzzle experience remains engaging, readable, and satisfying for players across the entire progression journey.
- Design and iterate on core puzzle gameplay, ensuring moment-to-moment interaction feels satisfying, responsive, and accessible.
- Create and evolve blockers and level mechanics, developing gameplay elements that introduce challenge, variety, and strategic depth.
- Help define the overall gameplay feel, including pacing, readability, clarity, and player feedback.
- Collaborate with the level design team to ensure blockers and mechanics integrate seamlessly into the wider level progression.
- Partner with Product Managers and Data Scientists to analyze player behavior and tune gameplay difficulty, progression, and engagement.
- Prototype and develop new gameplay mechanics, exploring ideas that enhance the puzzle experience and expand the game’s design space.
- Ensure gameplay systems align with the game’s broader meta and economy systems, collaborating with relevant designers when necessary.
- Maintain high design quality standards, balancing creative ambition with technical constraints and production realities.
- Document and communicate gameplay designs clearly, ensuring cross-team understanding of design goals and player outcomes.
- Identify and communicate design risks early, working closely with producers and engineers for smooth delivery.
- Stay connected to the market, analyzing puzzle and casual games to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Contribute to studio design craft community, sharing learnings and mentoring fellow designers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
