About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Garden Centre Assistant to play a pivotal role in leading day-to-day operations and delivering an outstanding customer experience. This is a key position, supporting the management team while guiding and motivating staff to ensure our centre remains welcoming, knowledgeable, and commercially successful.
This is a permanent, full-time role of an average of 37.5 hours a week, worked on a rota basis.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Garden Centre Assistant, you will:
- Oversee the smooth running of the centre during operational hours
- Support staff with coaching, task coordination, and customer service excellence
- Lead by example in maintaining high presentation standards, in all areas of the shop and seasonal displays
- Proactively contribute to sales targets, stock replenishment, and promotional activity
- Manage customer queries with professionalism and knowledge
- Foster a positive, inclusive working environment that values teamwork and accountability
Requirements
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a garden centre or retail environment, ideally with supervisory responsibility
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- A passion for plants, customer service, and helping others grow
- Reliability, flexibility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
