Crest Nicholson is recruiting for a Senior Group SHE Advisor to join their team covering their Eastern Patch.
As Senior Group SHE Advisor you will ensure appropriate and robust health, safety and environmental management systems are implemented and maintained by Directors and Senior Managers within all areas of the Group’s operations, whilst monitoring and reviewing performance of standards in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountabilities will relate to the scope of work carried out by all Crest Nicholson Divisional Business Units and Head Office.
- Assist the business in maintaining conformity with corporate health, safety and environmental (HSE) risk control procedures such that Divisional Business Units can cost-effectively comply with relevant HSE legislation, meet the other HSE requirements to which the Businesses subscribes, and carry out their activities in ways which protect the health and safety of their employees, others affected their activities and the environment.
- Assist the business in achieving corporate HSE objectives and management programmes and propose changes where necessary. Ensure that each Division focuses on improving their;
- Present timely and relevant information and HSE advice to Divisional personnel.
- Lead and develop the work of Divisional Departments including:
- Attendance at the Production Department Bimonthly HSE Performance Review Meetings,
- Contributing to all relevant duty holder functions in accordance with the corporate procedure for controlling risks arising from construction design and management,
- Contributing to their emergency plans.

General Responsibilities
- Collect and present HSE performance data to the Divisional Board of Directors and the Group Health, Safety and Environmental Director on a monthly basis or as and when requested.
- Ensure incidents are fully investigated and monitor the implementation of the measures necessary to prevent recurrences. Produce information on incident frequencies utilising the incident reporting and investigation procedure.
- Liase with Enforcing Authority Inspectors, Insurance Representatives, and other interested parties as required.
- Ensure Divisional Departments have in place arrangements for training all staff in HSE related matters in accordance with management system procedures. Where applicable, design and deliver training or arrange for such training to be designed and delivered by a competent training provider.
- Conduct HSE audits in accordance with management system procedures.
- Assist Divisional Departments in preparation of HSE audits, in accordance with the schedule of Audits produced by the Group Health and Safety Executive.
- Maintain access to health and safety information.
- Carry out all other duties necessary to ensure the efficient and ongoing management of HSE within the Group.
What are we looking for in a successful candidate?
- Eligible for Chartered status in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
- Eligible for Practitioner status in the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment
- Literate, numerate and with IT skills.
- Excellent communication, motivational, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Be able to work to deadlines.
- Be able to work on one’s own initiative.
- Able to act in a fair, firm, polite and business-like manner.
- Experience of BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 19011 auditing.
- Experience of construction work (preferably in the house building sector).
- Hold a valid driving licence.
- Able and willing to meet the travel requirements.
- Able and willing to learn new skills.
