Job Advert Senior Healthcare Assistant – Ward
Duchy Hospital, Truro
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our Ward team here at Duchy Hospital. In this role, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and clinical outcomes in a supportive and professional environment.
Working closely with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will provide high-quality care to patients throughout their hospital journey. You will demonstrate compassion, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ensuring patients receive a positive and safe experience during their stay.
This role will suit an experienced Healthcare Assistant who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working within a team, and is keen to further develop their skills within an independent healthcare setting.
What you'll bring with you
- Previous healthcare experience within an acute hospital, ward, or care environment
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (Level 3 desirable)
- Understanding of patient-centred care principles
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Caring, compassionate, and professional approach to patient care
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the service
- Basic IT and computer skills
- Willingness to undertake further training and development
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses
- Support patients with activities of daily living whilst promoting independence and dignity
- Monitor and record patient observations as directed
- Maintain accurate patient documentation
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Ensure patient areas are clean, safe, and well-stocked
- Support infection prevention and control procedures
- Contribute to a positive patient experience and maintain excellent customer service standards
- Work in accordance with Ramsay Health Care policies and procedures
