Job Advert Senior Healthcare Assistant – Ward

Duchy Hospital, Truro

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our Ward team here at Duchy Hospital. In this role, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and clinical outcomes in a supportive and professional environment.

Working closely with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will provide high-quality care to patients throughout their hospital journey. You will demonstrate compassion, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ensuring patients receive a positive and safe experience during their stay.

This role will suit an experienced Healthcare Assistant who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working within a team, and is keen to further develop their skills within an independent healthcare setting.

What you'll bring with you

  • Previous healthcare experience within an acute hospital, ward, or care environment
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (Level 3 desirable)
  • Understanding of patient-centred care principles
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Caring, compassionate, and professional approach to patient care
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the service
  • Basic IT and computer skills
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses
  • Support patients with activities of daily living whilst promoting independence and dignity
  • Monitor and record patient observations as directed
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Ensure patient areas are clean, safe, and well-stocked
  • Support infection prevention and control procedures
  • Contribute to a positive patient experience and maintain excellent customer service standards
  • Work in accordance with Ramsay Health Care policies and procedures
