Senior Healthcare Assistant
Department: Surgical SDEC
Band 2/3 :£25,272 - £27,476 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
if you do not have an NHS care certificate you would start at a band 2 and be supported within the first 6 months to achieve this at which time you will move to band 3.
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Healthcare Assistant to join our Surgical SDEC team. This is a busy, patient focused environment providing rapid assessment and treatment for surgical patients, supporting high quality care and timely discharge.
Key Skills And Knowledge Required Include
Experience in providing high standard personal care and supporting patients with dignity and respect
Ability to undertake and record clinical observations and recognise when to escalate concerns
Confidence supporting surgical patients, including wound care, mobility, hydration and comfort
Understanding of infection prevention and control principles
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
Organisational skills to support patient flow in a fast paced ambulatory care setting

Under the supervision of Registered staff, the role of the Senior Healthcare Assistant is to undertake delegated clinical care duties, assist the nursing team and support Healthcare Assistants in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.
