Overview of the Senior Housing Lawyer position

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for a Senior Housing Lawyer to join a busy but friendly London Borough Council. Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Lawyer who has extensive experience dealing with disrepair cases, ideally from local authority. Candidates with transferrable skills from private practice are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is on a hybrid working basis, with a mandatory 2 day office presence required per week, encouraging employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious housing lawyer, who is looking to progress further with additional management opportunities. This is a really interesting opportunity to work in a busy legal team that is bringing all of their housing work back in-house.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Housing Lawyer

  • Assisting the Principal Lawyer with management of the team as well as carrying a caseload of mainly disrepair cases.
  • Deputising for the Principal Lawyer as required.
  • Undertake a caseload of more complex housing litigation and advisory work – the majority of the casework is disrepair and statutory nuisance.
  • Act as a legal advisor to Members and Officers in connection with procedures or matters arising from the Committees attended and participate in the formulation of policy proposals for presentation to Committees.
  • Deal with Ombudsman cases.
  • Introduce new procedures, as required, arising from new legislation, and improvements in efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
