We are looking for a motivated, innovative, and experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Provision of specialist HR advice to managers on a wide range of complex HR issues
- Managing complex HR cases relating to discipline, grievance, performance, etc., and providing advice, support, and guidance to HR Advisors with their caseload
- Researching and designing fit-for-purpose HR policies, systems, processes, and procedures
- Taking responsibility for a number of key HR projects within but not limited to the People Strategy action plan, working closely with the HR team and other colleagues
- Actively representing HR on various Council working parties and project groups
- Designing and delivering training to line managers on HR issues
- Supporting the Council in the delivery of organisational change and TUPE requirements
- Proactively monitoring developments within HR best practice/employment law, analyzing their potential impact, and identifying where change may be necessary
- Overseeing the management of the advisors/administrators ensuring compliance and effective development is in place

About You
This position is ideal for an experienced Senior HR professional who is capable of working on their own initiative on a wide range of HR projects as well as supporting with ongoing casework. Bringing knowledge, passion, and innovation to the role, you will be able to quickly assimilate information, build effective working relationships, and be very organized with excellent attention to detail. You must have a thorough understanding of employment law and have relevant experience of managing complex employee relation cases. You will be creative and proactive to be able to work effectively with a range of different stakeholders: managers, internal communications, trade unions, and the wider Council teams.
- Strong IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives
- Approachable and able to coach others, no matter their confidence and ability
- CIPD qualified/a member of the CIPD with relevant senior HR experience, preferably in a unionised environment
- Public sector experience would also be an advantage
