About the Role
The London-based SR Generalist (HR Generalist) is a hands-on, all-rounder position with a clear trajectory toward high-impact HR business partnership. You’ll support Neo4j’s global team—from adherence to UK employment law to fostering employee engagement and development. Key Responsibilities
Employee Experience & Operations
- Act as a go-to HR contact—first point of call for employees and managers with HR queries, ensuring clear, consistent, and legal guidance.
- Manage the complete employee lifecycle:
- Onboarding—supporting smooth pre-board preparation, starter packs, and integration.
- Performance—serving as a process owner for reviews, goal tracking, and feedback cycles.
- Growth—supporting promotions, mobility, and learning & development (L&D) initiatives.
- Offboarding—maintaining company-standard send-off flows and finish-off processes.
- Deliver HR admin and systems efficiency:
- Ensure performance and engagement surveys run successfully.
- Assess, propose, and implement requested policy/process changes.

People Management & Relationships
- Partner with senior leaders and managers to:
- Work proactively on performance/welfare inquiries (seeking out guidance).
- Contribute to time-sensitive employee relations (ER) cases (e.g., absence, conduct).
- Support low-level conflict resolution and facilitated discussions.
- Begin to develop HR insights and recommendations for stakeholder input, with a pathway to HR programme ownership.
Governance & Strategy
- Maintain compliance and policy accuracy for the UK, ensuring maximo legal alignment with employment law.
- Contribute to HR projects (e.g., *Learning & Development, Workforce Analytics, Process Improvement, DEI).
- Collaborate internally to level up HR processes—recognise inefficiencies and propose scalable solutions.
Career Growth & Organisation Transformation
- Broaden experience in benchmarking vs. peers (e.g., Aicago workplaces) while pushing Neo4j behaviours and strategy ahead.
- Play a role in tackling diversity and inclusion challenges (Neo4j actively supports underrepresented communities).
- Share external HR knowledge while solidifying problem-solving approaches for future high-impact HR Business Partner opportunities.
Requirements
Essential
- 3+ years’ HR generalist experience (administrative, advisory, or hybrid roles).
- A fast-paced track record in tech, software, or modern workplace settings.
- Genuine understanding of UK employment law, including contract terms, employee protections, and ethical action.
- Practical ER exposure (with hands-on support rather than independent oversight).
- Strong organisational skills—ability to deliver consistently while managing multiple urgent requests.
- Exceptional calendar management and documentation (scheduling, note-taking, informal direction).
Nice-to-Have
- EBF, CIPD Level 3+ (or 5) or a relevant graduate HR qualification/course (work towards through Neo4j).
- HRIS skills (cutting your teeth on Workday, HiBob, or BambooHR).
- In-person people розробке management experience (although the discipline of partnering with managers is more critical).
- A BEsport or analytical head to blend people data with HR operations (e.g., identifying partnerships with domain experts).
