Join a leading Engineering organisation as a Senior Engineer – Human Factors!

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Human Factors to support the design and development of future maritime and naval systems. You will apply Human Factors expertise across warship design programmes, including maritime command and control systems, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers and end users to deliver safe, operable and user-centred design solutions.

Location:

New Malden, UK (Hybrid – 1 day per week onsite)

Hourly Rate:

£60 per hour (Inside IR35)

Contract Length:

12 Months

ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply Human Factors expertise across warship and maritime systems design activities.
  • Deliver Human Factors Integration (HFI) activities throughout the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Conduct Human Factors assessments, task analysis and performance evaluations.
  • Design and run HCI and usability trials to evaluate products and systems.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, project managers, customers and end users to develop user-centred design solutions.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports, presentations and project deliverables.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate Human Factors-related technical risks and issues while supporting junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in Human Factors Engineering within Defence or other safety-critical industries.
  • Strong understanding of Human Factors Integration (HFI) within a systems engineering environment.
  • Experience applying Human Factors methodologies including Task Analysis, Performance Assessment and Human-Centred Design.
  • Experience conducting HCI/usability testing and user evaluations.
  • Knowledge of MoD Human Factors Integration processes and standards.
  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, Science or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) is desirable.
  • Experience with Axure RP, Jack or other Digital Human Modelling tools is advantageous.
