Job Title: Senior HR Advisor (Group Support Functions)

Salary: £40,000 – 45,000 per annum plus up to 15% bonus and benefits

Location: Hybrid/home working with ad hoc travel to meetings/office locations (Hampshire/Midlands/London)

Working Hours: 40 hours per week (open to flexible working/condensed working hours)

Job Status: Permanent

Main Purpose of The Role:

As Senior HR Advisor, you’ll deliver an exceptional HR service to a larger Group Support Function (Technology and Finance. HC 650). Reporting directly to a strategic HR Business Partner, you’ll be instrumental in building confidence in HR across your stakeholder group; helping managers lead effectively and driving consistent people practices that are commercially focused, manage risk and improve performance.

We scaled quickly and our infrastructure still needs to catch-up, so you can expect ambiguity as we continue to develop our systems and practices. We are a large HR team which includes HR Shared Services, Centres of Excellence and HR colleagues (based in Portugal), so strong collaboration with a bigger team is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for employee relations, coaching leaders and managers based in Portugal and UK through UK employment law, policies and employee relations matters such as disciplinary investigations and hearings, performance and sickness absence. Following up to help leaders and managers remain accountable.
  • Managing the ER case tracker, reporting regularly on themes, case and recommended interventions.
  • Review and analyse sickness patterns and themes following up to educate managers and encourage early intervention and support.
  • Support HRBP and leaders with business change from design to implementation, ensuring smooth transitions and best practice. Supporting consultation prep, attend meetings and smooth execution, including liaising with HR Operations/Payroll to ensure changes are accurate and systems maintained.
  • Review dashboard data and survey results to analyse themes and trends that will help influence and inform decisions that drive improvement and impact.
  • Support L&D with developing learning content and deliver workshops / skills bursts and innovative approaches to educate and build capability across a geographically diverse function on employment law matters, managing people and performance.
  • Confidence to forge strong relationships with a range of stakeholders from senior Directors to Team Leads. Being visible virtually and in person, as required.
  • Support cyclical activity and communications e.g. performance, talent potential, succession planning, wellbeing etc.
  • Support central HR COE strategies and initiatives holding leaders to account for job evaluation and benchmarking roles, as required.
  • Support with mentoring and some day-to-day task management of a Chartered Management Degree Apprentice (CMDA).
  • Working Collaborating with colleagues in both UK and Portugal in a large geographically dispersed/remote workforce.
  • Feed improvements and insights back into HR Shared Svs and COE to continually improve our processes.
  • Lead/support ad-hoc projects.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working toward).
  • Strong employee relations / case management experience (Group/Head of Functions and/or tech) approx. 70% of the role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice. Willingness to understand Portuguese labour laws.
  • Confidence in advising various levels (senior leaders and team managers) with handling ER issues, the confidence to coach, challenge and hold accountability.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting re-structures (TUPE desirable but not essential).
  • All round strong communication skills and comfortable in multi-site / with remote colleagues located UK and EU.
  • Organisational skills and confident in workshops/ upskilling delivery or willingness to develop.
  • Analytical and able to identify themes, patterns to help inform decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, HR systems. Strong in Excel.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset. Able to work independently, comfortable with ambiguity (we’re still building!) Able to problem solve.
  • Ability to think broadly and join the dots.
  • Able to drive / travel on an ad-hoc basis, as required.
  • Some project skills desirable.
