##About the Role SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Principal/Senior HV Design Engineer to join our Energy Team, specialising in High Voltage (132/400kV) engineering. This role requires you to collaborate on a variety of projects across the UK, including Data Centres, HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), geotechnical solutions, protection systems, and reconnection schemes.

As part of our MEP engineering team, you will demonstrate leadership, strong interpersonal and commercial awareness, and the ability to thrive in a high-performance environment.
##Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop HV systems (including concept and detailed design), and lead design reviews while estimating project deliverables and supervising on-site execution as required.
- Provide technical leadership for HV system engineering and design, including consultation and support across all project phases.
- Prepare technical specifications for plant, equipment, power, and cable routes, as well as tender and progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with National Grid Electrical Code (NGET), National Electrical Rating Standards (NETS), Reliability of Supply (RES), and BS7671:2018+A2+A3.
- Coordinate interfaces with other engineering teams, attend both internal and external meetings with stakeholders, and collaborate with clients and subcontractors.
- Perform technical calculations, including Transient, Electromagnetic Field (EMF), and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), with a firm understanding of sheath-induced voltage effects.
- Conduct design reviews and verification to ensure technical accuracy.
- Confirm CDM regulations, regulatory compliance, and company procedures are met throughout all project designs.
- Support temporary works design and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, and our supply chain.

- Confirm that drawings and project documentation are complete, accurate, and provide sufficient construction details.
- Ensure quality and compliance by addressing scope gaps and ensuring inspection and testing plans align with the Project Management Plan (PMP) / Specification schedules.
##Profile and Required Skills
###Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
-
Extensive experience in HV design, preferably with UK-based 132kV/400kV systems.

Professional membership of a recognized institution such as:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
- Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)

Experience in consultancy, contracting, or utility environments within the energy sector is highly desirable.
