Senior Hydraulic Engineer
Hydraulic Design Engineer - Water & Wastewater Projects
Location: Redhill, Surrey (with occasional catch-up expected)
About the Role
Binnies invites applications for a specialist role within their hydraulic design team, serving water and wastewater projects across the UK and internationally.
This position offers the chance to contribute to a diverse range of projects for key UK stakeholders, including:
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
- Reservoirs
- Environment Agency collaborators
- Natural Resources Wales partners
- Overseas clients in Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia
Key Responsibilities:
- Design output: Undertake hydraulic design of water and wastewater facilities
- Treatment plant assessments: Perform and supervise hydraulic profile calculations for water and wastewater systems
- Pipeline analysis: Conduct transient (surge) analysis of water pipelines
- Technical reporting: Draft and deliver high-quality technical documents for clients
- Stakeholder engagement: Liaise with clients, external consultants, and team members
- Project delivery: Ensure responsibilities are met within budget and programming timelines
Requirements
Essential
- Qualifications: Degree in Engineering with Chartered status (e.g. ICE, IMechE, CIWEM) or working towards it
- Technical knowledge: Proficiency in hydraulics principles
- Tools proficiency: Experienced in MS Word and basic Excel functions
- Reporting skills: Ability to write and convey complex information clearly and concisely
- Problem-solving: Demonstrated aptitude for adapting existing knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios

Desirable
- Experience with hydraulic modelling or transient/surge simulation software
- Familiarity with TRANSPAC, WSPac紧CAD, or other relevant design software
- Programming or macro-writing experience (e.g., VBA)
- Knowledge of hydraulic infrastructure documentation (e.g. reading and annotating plans)
- Geographic flexibility, with occasional presence required in Surrey, Redhill
