Senior Hydraulics Engineer
The Opportunity
Join Stantec's specialist Hydraulic Engineering team and help solve some of the most technically challenging problems facing the UK water industry. Working across nationally significant water frameworks, you'll deliver complex hydraulic studies that support the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of critical infrastructure.
As part of our national team, you'll work alongside recognised hydraulic specialists on projects that span the full asset lifecycle, from concept and design through to operational troubleshooting and optimisation. About The Role
As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you'll lead the technical delivery of hydraulic engineering studies, applying your expertise to support the design, assessment, and optimisation of water infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Delivering steady-state and transient hydraulic studies across water infrastructure projects.
- Undertaking hydraulic analysis using specialist software such as Hades, Varism, Flow 3D, or equivalent.
- Producing high-quality technical reports and engineering recommendations.
- Supporting the design and assessment of hydraulic structures and pipeline systems.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continued development of technical capability across the team.

About You
We're looking for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer with strong analytical capability and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges.
You Will Have
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Experience delivering hydraulic engineering studies within the UK water sector.
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulic principles.
- Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as Hades, Varism, Flow 3D, or similar.
- Strong technical reporting and analytical skills.
- The ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable
- Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
