Senior Hydrogeologist
Hydrogeologist & Groundwater Expert – Senior Opportunities

- Groundwater source investigations
- Dewatering and flood risk management

Core Responsibilities
You’ll play a pivotal role across UK (and Ireland initially), with scope to expand globally. Key tasks include:
- Expert Advisory: Provide technical leadership on hydrogeological conceptualisation and analyses for clients in public and private sectors.
- Project Delivery: Support water resources and engineering hydrogeology projects, from feasibility studies to consent and delivery phases.
- Bid Management: Develop and manage internal and external bids to grow AECOM’s portfolio.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with consultants, graduate hydrogeologists, and specialists in surface water, ecological impacts (water framework directives), and hydromorphology.
- Innovation: Drive advancements in data integration, partnerships with groundwater modellers, and cutting-edge solutions.
Projects & Industry Impact
Our team connects water strategy with critical sectors, delivering value in:
- Water Supply Solutions:
- Development of new groundwater resources and existing well optimisation for Water Companies and the Food & Beverage Sector.
- Energy Transition:
- Ground-source heat schemes, geothermal projects, pump storage hydro, and infrastructure for wind farms.
- Mining & Legacy Site Remediation:
- Supporting water-management needs for active mine sites and legacy contamination, aligned with sustainable practices.
- Infrastructure Projects:
- Advisory across Energy & Digital Projects—from optioneering to delivery consents, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Requirements
We seek collaborative professionals with:
Education & Expertise
- BSc Hons in Geology, Geography, or Environmental Science (or equivalent).
- A strong MSc in a water sciences or hydrogeology related discipline, with practical application.
- Groundwater industry experience—proof of recent authoritative work (e.g., consultant, research, or field investigations).
- Early career alignment with professional bodies (e.g., Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management - CIWEM, Institute of Groundwater CIWEM, etc.), with future progression in mind.
Skills & Mindset
- Technical Adaptability: Ability to transition seamlessly between conceptual hydrogeology, modelling, and fieldwork.
- Clarity under pressure: Experience communicating complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Client-Centric Approach: Eager to build relationships with public/private sector clients across the UK/EMEA.
- Team Collaboration: Open to peer-learning with multidisciplinary teams in biological sciences, data science, and engineering.
