Job Description: Senior Hydrogeologist – UK National Positions
Location: Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Cambridge, St Albans, or Basingstoke (UK) – with potential for growth into international projects
About the Role
We’re expanding—and this is an exciting time to join. We’re actively recruiting senior hydrogeologists and experts in groundwater management. Whether you’re a seasoned professional seeking career progression or looking to contribute to challenging projects with meaningful impact, we welcome your expertise.
Join a team of 30+ hydrogeologists, collaborating on initiatives ranging from:
- Groundwater source investigations
- Dewatering and groundwater flood protection
- Impact assessments for large-scale infrastructure
- Water management in the Water Companies, Energy, and Digital Infrastructure sectors
- Sustainable strategies for safeguarding groundwater resources

Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a pivotal role in:
- Advising on hydrogeology nationwide (UK/Ireland) and across global projects
- Conceptualising hydrogeological systems with expert insight
- Delivering projects—spanning water resources, groundwater investigation, and engineering initiatives
- Bidding for new work—internally and with external clients
- Collaborating with colleagues across our 50+ UK offices, supporting sustainable innovations
- Partnership with our ground modelling teams – translating data into practical solutions
Our UK and Ireland portfolio includes: 🔹 Major infrastructure projects – from conceptual exploration to grant-consent and construction 🔹 Client-driven solutions – spanning private sector (food & beverage, energy) and public services (water company asset management, mining water mitigation) 🔹 Forward-thinking collaborations – connections with surface water, ecological, and hydromorphology professionals 🔹 Sustainable resource development – focusing on resilience, rectification, and long-term stewardship 🔹 Energy innovation – including heat schemes, geothermal, storage solutions, and offshore wind projects
Requirements & Fit
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A BSc Honours degree in Geology, Geography, or Environmental Science
- Proven experience in groundwater investigation and application in water/environment fields
- A practical Master’s (MSc) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Hydrogeology, Water Science)
- Early career engagement with a recognised professional body, with aspirations to join as a full member in future
