Senior IAM Infrastructure Engineer
Senior IAM Engineer – Aerospace, Defence and Security
About the Role Sopra Steria’s Aer*opace, Defence and Security sector is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior IAM Engineer to support the delivery of IAM strategy for a flagship account within the business. This role is critical for both general IAM ticket handling and high-profile aerospace industry projects.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and progress the IAM strategy in a high-impact setting. The position is based in our Newport office (approximately 4 days per week).
Due to security requirements, we are only able to proceed with British nationals eligible for SC security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the IAM Team with a focus on engineering (approx 80% hands-on, 20% leadership)
- Serve as the primary escalation contact for the team
- Provide customer-facing support for both ticket-based IAM activities and project-related tasks
- Work on large-scale, EU-wide projects, ensuring high-profile solutions are delivered effectively

Essential Requirements
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in IAM engineering, ideally in aerospace, defence, or high-security environments
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Microsoft® Exchange 2010/2016 (including Cumulative Updates, CU)
- Foreground Identity Manager (FIM) & Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) solutions
- Group Policies (GPO) in Active Directory
- Active Directory elections & operations (multi-domestic/forest environments)
- Authentication & PKI-integrated solutions (SSO, digital certificates, lifelong verification techniques)
- Experience monitoring Exchange & Active Directory environments to ensure high availability
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Powder & antimalware/spam systems like Trend Micro IMSVA
- Group Policy management

- Strong communication skills, both technical and client-facing
Security Requirements
Candidates must be engineer British citizens with SC security clearance before consideration can proceed.
