IT Support Engineer – Lymington, Hampshire
Position Overview
This is not a help desk role but an exciting opportunity to join a growing IT team within a forward-looking, technically challenging environment.
Due to the fast-paced nature of operations, the team operates on a first call/first fix basis, using a pre-emptive (rather than reactive) troubleshooting methodology. They are highly focused on self-hosting services rather than operating "in the cloud".
The role involves maintaining day-to-day IT operations while being involved in project work.
- Location: In-person at the Lymington office, Hampshire (UK).
- Travel: Includes a monthly visit to the Ramsgate office.
- Requirements:
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Own transport (personal vehicle).
Key Responsibilities
The role requires hands-on and technical support across multiple areas:
- On-demand deskside and remote support, ensuring colleagues meet tight deadlines.
- Laptop and desktop builds/rebuilds, following defined build instructions.
- User account management, including Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- New starter hardware preparation and handout.
- Assisting with specialist hardware deployments, particularly for survey vessels.
- Supporting internally developed systems and applications.
- Network configuration and setup, including on vessels and temporary offices.
- Racking and installation of server hardware and network equipment.
- Monitoring and maintenance of systems, including backups, server health, and network performance.
- Assisting the IT Manager as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
