Senior IT Project Manager
Location: Home-based with occasional travel across the UK and Europe
Contract: Initial 6-Month Contract
Salary: £400-£450 Per day
The Opportunity
Our clients are looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex technology transformation programmes across the UK and Europe.
This is a hands-on delivery role for a seasoned Project Manager with a strong track record of managing large-scale IT infrastructure, software, and business transformation projects from initiation through to successful completion. You'll oversee multiple concurrent workstreams, engage with senior stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard in a regulated, business-critical environment.
The role offers an exciting blend of infrastructure transformation, software delivery, M&A integration, and multi-site technology deployments, making it ideal for someone with broad enterprise IT project delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex IT infrastructure and software implementation projects.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects across UK and European business locations.
- Deliver infrastructure transformation initiatives, including:
- Network upgrades and transformations
- Data centre migrations
- Windows migrations and desktop refresh programmes
- Infrastructure modernisation
- Multi-site technology deployments and rollouts
- Lead IT integration activities associated with acquisitions, including:
- IT integration planning
- Systems consolidation
- Data migration
- User onboarding
- Technology transition programmes
- Collaborate with infrastructure engineers, software development teams, product owners, business stakeholders, and third-party suppliers.
- Establish and maintain effective project governance, reporting, and control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Chair project and steering committee meetings, providing clear status updates to senior leadership.
- Manage project plans, budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery milestones.
- Balance project delivery with the operational needs of a live production environment.

Essential Experience
IT Infrastructure Project Delivery
You'll have a proven history of delivering enterprise infrastructure projects, including:
- Network transformation programmes
- Data centre implementations and migrations
- Windows migration and desktop refresh initiatives
- Infrastructure upgrades and modernisation
- Multi-site technology deployments
M&A and Technology Integration
Demonstrable experience leading technology integration following acquisitions, including:
- Business and site onboarding
- Systems consolidation
- Data migration
- Transition planning and execution
Project Management
- Minimum of 10 years' experience delivering IT projects within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven experience managing projects from initiation through to successful delivery.
- Strong experience managing budgets, schedules, resources, governance, and reporting.
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical and business teams.
Multi-Site & International Delivery
- Experience delivering projects across multiple locations and countries.
- Comfortable coordinating geographically dispersed teams.
- Previous UK and European project delivery experience is highly desirable.
Software & Application Delivery
Alongside infrastructure expertise, you'll also have experience delivering software and application projects, including:
- Working with software development teams
- Managing application implementation projects
- Agile and SDLC delivery environments
- Working closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA, and Test teams
- Managing testing, UAT, release, and go-live activities

Governance & Project Controls
- Strong practical experience managing project governance, including:
- Project Initiation Documents (PID)
- RAID Logs
- RACI Matrices
- Detailed project planning
- Steering committee reporting
- Risk, issue, and dependency management
- Change control and project reporting
Technical & Delivery Methodologies
- Agile delivery methodologies
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Hybrid project delivery approaches
- Resource and stakeholder management
- Budget management and financial tracking
- Third-party supplier and vendor management
Stakeholder Management
You'll be comfortable influencing and communicating at all levels of the organisation, including:
- Senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Infrastructure and technical teams
- Software development teams
- Third-party suppliers and partners
- Operational business stakeholders
You'll have excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, build strong relationships, and maintain stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within forensic, laboratory, scientific, or healthcare environments
- Delivery experience within highly regulated industries
- Public sector project experience
- Security-focused infrastructure programmes
- ITIL knowledge or certification
- Agile certification
- PRINCE2 Practitioner
- PMP certification
