Senior Infrastructure Consultant – Life Sciences
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Southampton, UK (Hybrid 2-3 days/week onsite)
Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Consultant to provide technical leadership, infrastructure governance, and operational support within a regulated Life Sciences environment. The role focuses on Azure infrastructure, Windows enterprise systems, service management, and stakeholder engagement.

Infrastructure Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and operational governance for infrastructure services.
- Drive infrastructure improvements, modernization initiatives, and technology upgrades.
- Support operational excellence and continuous service improvement.

Azure Cloud Operations
- Support Azure infrastructure services and cloud migration activities.
- Monitor cloud performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Assist with cloud governance and cost optimization.
Enterprise Infrastructure Support
- Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Perform server monitoring, patch management, backup, storage, and recovery activities.
- Support network services, firewall monitoring, and capacity planning.
Life Sciences / Laboratory IT Support
- Support laboratory computing environments and scientific applications.
- Manage workstation provisioning, maintenance, and retirement.
- Coordinate with laboratory instrument vendors for installations and troubleshooting.
- Ensure infrastructure availability for laboratory operations.
Service Management & Governance
- Manage major incidents and support RCA activities.
- Handle infrastructure changes, releases, and deployments.
- Ensure SLA compliance and prepare operational reports.
- Drive continual service improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with Cloud, Network, Security, and Application teams.
- Engage with business owners and offshore delivery teams.
- Coordinate with Microsoft and third-party vendors for support and upgrades.

Security & Compliance
- Support regulated IT environments and audit readiness.
- Follow governance, change control, and compliance processes.
- Work with CSV and Quality teams where required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Healthcare, or Laboratory IT environments.
- Knowledge of GxP, GMP, GLP, and Computer Systems Validation (CSV).
- Experience with Microsoft Defender, SCCM, Intune, Azure Monitor, Azure Backup, Azure VM, and Azure Networking.
- Experience with ServiceNow.
- Exposure to scientific software and laboratory equipment vendors.
Experience Required
- 8–12 years of enterprise infrastructure experience.
- 5+ years in senior infrastructure support or consulting roles.
- Strong Microsoft Azure and managed services experience.
- Experience supporting customer-facing onsite environments.
- Experience coordinating with offshore teams.
- Life Sciences / regulated R&D environment experience highly preferred.
