Why This Role?
Ready to take ownership of complex schemes and influence better design outcomes?
At SCP Infrastructure & Design (an RSK Group company), we’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to take on a key role in delivering high-quality highways and drainage solutions across diverse infrastructure projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an established engineer ready to step up: leading technical delivery, mentoring others, and acting as a trusted proposition within a collaborative, forward-thinking team.
As a Senior Engineer, your role will extend beyond task delivery to true project influence. You’ll:
- Help shape highways and drainage designs through technical leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with project managers and clients.
- Deliver technically robust, sustainable solutions across nationwide projects spanning residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and energy sectors.
- Challenge convention, drive continuous improvement, and meaningfully impact nationally significant schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and producing high-calibre designs: Delivery and review of roads, foul & surface water systems for medium to large projects.
- Quality assurance: Producing, checking, and verifying drawings, calculations, and specifications against best practices.
- Technical mentorship & collaboration: Providing day-to-day guidance to engineers and technicians, coordinating inputs, and ensuring adherence to standards, legislation, and industry best practice.
- Client-facing interaction: Supporting presentations and discussions to refine design outputs and solutions.
- Strategic alignment: Staying updated with regulatory changes and championing quality, sustainability, and innovation within the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
