Senior Infrastructure Engineer | Manchester (Hybrid) | £60,000 - £75,000 + 10% Bonus
We're partnering with a globally recognised tech organisation to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer into their highly skilled Technical Operations team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure engineer who enjoys working close to the technology, solving complex operational challenges, and shaping the future direction of critical platforms and services.
If you're passionate about infrastructure, automation, Linux, and datacentre technologies — and want to work within an environment that values autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning — this could be the ideal next step.
The Opportunity
Joining a small, globally distributed Technical Operations function, you'll play a key role in designing, maintaining, and evolving a complex global infrastructure estate that supports cutting-edge technology services.
This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role, combining approximately 50% project delivery with 50% operational support. You'll have significant ownership and freedom to influence technical decisions, introduce new ideas, and drive improvements across both existing and emerging platforms.
The environment is highly collaborative, with opportunities to work alongside world-class security specialists and gain exposure to emerging technologies across infrastructure, AI, and cyber security.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
- Managing and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure with a strong focus on security and reliability.
- Automating infrastructure and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and platform issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
- Leading infrastructure design initiatives and contributing to architectural decisions.
- Supporting datacentre operations, including physical infrastructure and hardware management.
- Collaborating with global engineering teams across multiple regions.
- Mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers within the team.
- Driving continual improvement across systems, tooling and operational processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
