Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Azure - Banking

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Azure – Banking

An excellent opportunity opens for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong Azure skills to join a growing Bank’s London office, responsible for the support, change, enhancement, and maintenance of IT services that enable the Bank’s IT department to deliver strategic IT services.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Azure services
    • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement cloud migration strategies
    • Deliver 2nd/3rd line operational support for IT services, including collaboration with 3rd-party providers
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex IT infrastructure solutions that meet the Bank's business needs
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and costs
  • Support IT application and change/delivery teams on a pipeline of IT operations maintenance and enhancement activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure services
  • Support IT infrastructure changes by providing:
    • Technical expertise at CAB meetings
    • Required technical resources to implement changes
  • Vulnerability and endpoint management across the infrastructure estate:
    • Prioritise remediation, risk levels and closure within SLA
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues that arise
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure security and integrity of systems
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain documentation and standards for IT infrastructure operations
  • Provide technical expertise and support to other IT teams and business units:
    • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing
    • Implement security measures against cyber threats
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including senior management, to present technical solutions and plans
  • Work with Head of IT Operations, Chief Technology Officer, and 3rd-party specialists on designing new IT platforms
  • Promote and leverage the Bank’s technology platforms to improve technology services delivered to users and customers
  • Work with projects and changes to deliver enhancements and new services that align with the Bank’s strategy
  • Support, development, and enhancement of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS)
  • Perform any other tasks at the discretion of the Head of IT Operations

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or a relevant discipline (Preferred)
  • Experience working in financial services (Preferred)
  • ITIL V4 foundation (as minimum)
  • Experience managing Microsoft Azure service models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS)
    • Azure Administrator Associate Certification, AZ-104 (Preferred)

Essential Competencies / Skills

  • Ability to:
    • Work in a small team with specialization
    • Demonstrate analytical thinking
    • Planning, problem-solving, and strong organization skills
  • Effective communicator
  • Experience:
    • Managing and delivering IT platforms
    • Taking a proactive "can do" approach with a lateral thinker mindset
  • Proficiency in Office 365 administration, including Microsoft Teams
  • SQL Server management
  • Experience with:
    • ITSM systems (Sunrise would be beneficial)
    • Azure AD
    • Supporting Microsoft AVD
  • Server, VMWare, SAN administration:
    • Expert technical experience
  • General network administration and troubleshooting, including:
    • Firewalls, VLANs, subnetting, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, etc.
    • 3+ years specializing in supporting and administering Microsoft Servers (Windows Server 2012–2022)
    • Active Directory and Group Policy
    • Windows 11 desktops and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Experience with:
    • Vulnerability assessment and endpoint management tools such as Tenable and NinjaOne
    • Software management automation tools, including Neridea, SCCM, Intune, and Chocolatey
  • Proficiency in PaaS IT monitoring tools, including:
    • AppDynamics
    • Dynatrace
    • Datadog
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
