Infrastructure Engineer / Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and optimise VMware datacentre infrastructure, including virtual networks, compute, and storage solutions
  • Implement, support, and manage network and security technologies
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network and virtualisation issues
  • Interact with vendors for support escalations
  • Continuously monitor network and infrastructure performance
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all configurations and procedures

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proficiency in managing and optimising VMware datacentre infrastructure, including virtual networks, compute, and storage solutions.
  • Experience with managing and supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge in configuring and managing firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Advanced understanding of networking, including:
    • TCP/IP protocols
    • Subnetting
    • VLANs
    • Dynamic routing protocols
    • Port aggregation
    • Load balancing
    • VPNs and wireless technologies
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services and architectures
  • Knowledge of:
    • Cisco ACL, Firepower, ISE, Unified Computing Systems (UCS)
    • Palo Alto Networks firewalls
    • Veeam and Zerto data resiliency platforms
  • Understanding of ITIL practices

Desirable Certifications

  • Cisco CCNA
  • VMware VCP
  • Cisco Unified Computing System (DCCUCS)
  • Microsoft Certifications such as:
    • Azure Network Engineer Associate
    • Azure Administrator Associate
    • Security Operations Analyst Associate
    • Azure Security Engineer Associate
