Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Wigan, UK Type: Full-time, Permanent

RSK Land Development and Engineering (LDE) Ltd, part of the RSK Group, seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our experienced team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on major infrastructure projects.


About the Role

Since its formation in 2003, RSK LDE Ltd has grown into a highly respected team of professional civil and structural engineers specialising in the assessment, design, and construction of major development projects. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and executing these projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality infrastructure designs on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to and ensure adherence to engineering strategies and technical standards.
  • Negotiate technical approvals for adoptable works (e.g., S104, S38, S278 agreements).
  • Ensure compliance with current Codes of Practice and industry regulations.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder communication, including internal design teams and external parties.
  • Uphold company quality procedures and standards.
  • Understand fee preparation and project cost budgets to optimise financial resources.
  • Mentor and manage junior staff, fostering team success.
  • Assist with technical report production, ensuring clarity and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role within a consultancy or development sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Highway design and ground modelling.
    • Drainage and hydraulic modelling, with experience in sustainable drainage systems (SuDs).
    • AutoCAD, plus at least one of the following:
      • PDS/XP Site 3D (or similar structural/site design software).
      • Microdrainage Windes/Flow (or comparable drainage modelling tools).
      • Microsoft Office (for report writing and data management).
  • A degree or HNC in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline.

Desirable

  • Direct experience in major development projects, including adoption agreements with local authorities.
  • Knowledge of highway design manuals (e.g., HDM, SAP) and drainage standards.
