Key Responsibilities as a Technical Consultant
You will play a critical role within the St. James’s Place Infrastructure Team, ensuring:
- Infrastructure and in-scope platforms/tooling operate effectively
- Compliance with IT standards/policies for high availability
- Major infrastructure initiatives including architecture definition and operational efficiency improvements
The role demands advanced problem-solving, guidance on complex issues, and collaboration with:
- Engineering teams
- Application architects, project managers, development teams
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Technical Operations & Architecture
- Work closely with stakeholder teams (engineering, solution architects, development) to deliver high-quality technical designs
- Align contributions with architectural roadmaps and strategy
- Design/implement IT infrastructure solutions supporting:
- Internal staff
- Partner community
- Clients
- Focus on cloud-first strategies (extensive use of SaaS, Iaas, PaaS)

Infrastructure Management
- Maintain infrastructure aligned with SLAs, resolving incidents to minimise impact
- Monitor supplier changes for tools/software, advising on future updates
- Develop/UPDATE business continuity/disaster recovery plans
Stakeholder & Subject-Matter Leadership
- Provide consultancy expertise for complex technical challenges/project needs
- Mentor/educate Technology Operations colleagues
- Drive/maintain the technical roadmap for sustainable infrastructure support
- Identify automation opportunities and deliver implementations
Strategic & Architectural Contributions
- Influence infrastructure designs based on business drivers/needs
- Ensure security integration in all solutions
- Specialise in cloud environments (AWS/Microsoft technologies) while maintaining broad technology awareness
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and how they enable business evolution
Who We’re Hiring
Ideal Candidate Profile
We seek an experienced Technical Consultant who thrives at the intersection of:
- Strategic cloud direction
- Hands-on infrastructure scaling/resilience
- Collaborative stakeholder engagement
Criteria
Essential Skills & Experience
- Deep AWS and Azure cloud knowledge (including traditional data centre environments)
- Proficiency in automation tools supporting software development/build processes
- AWS certifications at Professional level (+ Snowflake expertise)
- Strong comprehension of enterprise cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies + lifecycle project management
- Experience with application integration/development
